Out of hours emergencies
All out of hours services are the responsibility of the Sheffield Primary Care Trust. All patients can access this service between the hours of 6.30 pm and 8am, Mondays to Fridays and all day and night Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays by first ringing the surgery.
When you ring the surgery number (08451 214 213) out of normal opening hours, you will automatically be put though to the Out Of Hours (OOH) service, which is provided by the Sheffield GP Collaborative, based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Four out of five of our GPs work shifts for this service. In the unusual event of your call not being forwarded automatically, you may call them directly on 0114 305 1410, but this should only be used where the automatic forwarding has broken down, which is a rare occurrence.
Any comments about this service should be made directly to the Sheffield PCT as they are for the first time since the inception of the NHS in 1948, legally responsible for this service.
NHS Direct
In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call
NHS Direct (0845 4647) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
